ABOUT

Our Project

As a part of the Social Justice program at Brookline High School, Juniors and Seniors are assigned a semester long "action" project to chose and work on based on an issue they are passionate about. Upon noticing the disparities among their peers' knowledge of the American Incarceration System, six students took on the project to raise awareness regarding mass incarceration and the U.S. criminal justice system.

As part of their research, a survey on the the criminal justice system was sent out to the Brookline High School community to test their knowledge on the issues that plague our nation. After receiving 233 responses from students and several faculty members, the importance of these six student's action project was reaffirmed when they learned that 76.4% of those who responded claimed they had never learned about prison or anything related to the American Criminal Justice system in any of their classes.
